We learned a ton about the area and made notes on the hotel features and locations we would look for on our next visit while strolling to and from the parks. Those conversations informed this guide to the best family hotels near Disneyland. It has all the details and amenities that I wish I had prioritized when planning our trip.

The first thing many people wonder when planning a trip to Disneyland is whether or not it’s worth it to stay at a Disneyland Resort Hotel. One of the top perks is that staying at a Disney hotel is the only way to get early entry into the parks. Getting in and riding your favorite rides before anyone else is a great way to start an unforgettable day at Disneyland! 

Other not-too-shabby perks include preferred access to some coveted hotel dining reservations and package delivery to your room from select shops at the parks or in Downtown Disney.

Of course, the perks of staying at a Disneyland hotel come with a price. The Disney resort hotels cost more than most of the Good Neighbor Hotel options we share later in this post.

Disney’s Grand Californian

If you’re up for a splurge, Disney’s Grand Californian is the ultimate way to enjoy fun-filled days at the Disneyland parks.

A major perk of staying at the Grand Californian is that you not only get access to the parks 30 minutes before the regular park opening, but you also have a direct entrance from your hotel into the middle of California Adventure. 

I honestly thought staying here wasn’t worth the cost until we walked by the hotel’s entrance near Grizzly Run on the afternoon of our first day in the park. We’d gotten there as early as possible, and the idea of being able to stroll in for a quick mid-day rest made me see staying here in a very different light!

To get to Disneyland, cut through California Adventure with a Park Hopper ticket or walk through Downtown Disney. For a shortcut, hop on the Monorail at the Downtown Disney station and zoom directly into Tomorrowland.

Paradise Pier (soon to be Pixar Place)

Paradise Pier Hotel is the most budget-friendly of the Disneyland Resort lodging options, though it’s still priced well above most nearby hotels.

At the time of writing, the hotel is undergoing heavy construction while it transforms into Pixar Place Hotel, which is expected to be officially open in Fall 2023. Despite ongoing construction, the hotel is still welcoming guests.  Though many amenities like the hotel’s pools aren’t available, guests have access to the Disneyland Hotel’s pool. Transportation is provided daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. 

“We were able to check in at 11:30 AM and our room had a wonderful view of CA! We could watch the World of Color and fireworks every night!The front desk staff was genuinely kind and caring and made us feel welcome.

We knew the rooms would be a bit dated because of the remodel going on,but that did not matter at all,all 5 of us slept comfortably. There were free hot beverages in the lobby every morning,and you could buy snacks if wanted.

“We have been coming to Disneyland every year for over a decade. We’ve always stayed on Harbor with our larger family of six, but we outgrew our typical room now that my kids are too big to sleep comfortably in a pullout bed. We decided to give Clementine a chance and we were so pleased! The bi-level loft room was amazing, and the extra space and second bathroom so nice.

The full sized kitchen and fridge allowed us to order groceries for delivery and actually freeze water bottles for our park visit. The morning breakfast (and the staff there) were phenomenal… with a new featured dish every morning of our stay ranging from taco eggs to biscuits and gravy to French toast sticks to pancakes with blueberries. Of course, they always had a breakfast meat, eggs with and without cheese, waffle makers, cereal, and my personal favorite, a huge pot of oatmeal with all the condiments.

All you have to do is fill out the Grocery Shopping Service Card by 10 am and they’ll deliver them later that day! Home2 Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort is an almost all-suite hotel located just 0.6 miles, or a 12-minute walk, from the main entrance of the Disney parks. This is a great option for families who are seeking comfort and affordability during their stay in Anaheim.

This hotel features plenty of options for on-site meals. A complimentary breakfast is served each morning. Guests can enjoy a variety of hot and cold items, as well as fresh fruit and pastries. The Luke & Lara Restaurant is also onsite if you are at the hotel for lunch and dinner. Common Grounds Market Cafe is another convenient option for coffee and grab-and-go snacks. 

Most of the suites at this hotel offer kitchenettes with refrigerators, microwaves, and kitchenware so you can prepare your own meals too. The average suite sleeps six people with sofa bed and trundle bed options. Two-bedroom suites have a queen in one room, a trundle bed that becomes two twins in the second room, and a separate living room and kitchen.

One thing reviewers would like to improve about the rooms? The bathrooms have a sliding door that doesn’t lock, which has proven less than ideal for some families.

The Hampton Inn & Suites Anaheim Resort Convention Center is located 1 mile away from the main entrance. This falls into the shuttle category for us, especially at the end of a long day walking in the parks. Though the hotel doesn’t offer a free shuttle to Disneyland, it is next to the Toy Story Parking Lot which offers free shuttles to and from the parks.

Like other Hampton Inn hotels, you’ll start the day with a free breakfast here. Eat downstairs, or bring your breakfast back up to your room, most of which come with kitchenettes and seating areas.

If your hotel is too far from the park to walk back and forth easily, a hotel that offers free shuttle service is your next best bet.

Conveniently hop on the shuttle at your hotel or at the park, and save your feet that last bit of walking after a long day. A shuttle also allows you to make multiple trips to the park during your stay, so you can maximize your time and return to the hotel whenever you need a break. 

Many of the hotels listed in this post are located near an Anaheim Regional Transportation (ART) public shuttle stop, which connects resort district hotels with the parks. To relieve traffic congestion, the city stopped allowing private shuttles from most hotels in favor of public transportation. 

The Anaheim Majestic Garden Hotel and the Candy Cane Inn are two hotels allowed to continue their private shuttle service. The shuttle service is free and the direct route means no stopping for guests at neighboring hotels. Breakfast is included in your daily rate and if you book a premium room it will be delivered straight to your room each morning. Other popular amenities are free parking and an outdoor heated pool.

Plenty of plugs. Plenty of light. Great amount of towels. Hidden mini fridge kept our goodies cold. Coffee maker used for hot tea in the mornings. Gift shop had excedrin for my migraine. Milk for my girls and plenty of snack food, sandwiches, fruit, etc.

Game room was fun for my children too. Fish in the pond outside and inside were beautiful. Staff friendly and the shuttle to Disneyland was such fun.
